Country Music News 2/1/13

The CMA Music Festival will be storming downtown Nashville this summer, Thursday through Sunday, June 6-9, with a lineup that includes Luke Bryan, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Carrie Underwood, and more which are yet to be announced.

Jason Aldean‘s Madison Square Garden show on his 2013 Night Train tour sold out in less than 10 minutes and The show is scheduled for March 2.

Luke Bryan’s "Dirt Road Diaries" tour begins in Virginia Beach, Va. on May 17 and ends in West Palm Beach, Fla. on Oct. 26. he will be performing in Chicago on June 15 at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre. “I feel like I have waited a lifetime to take my own show on the road,” said Luke.

Blake Shelton will headline the Ten Times Crazier tour starting July 19 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and  joining special guests Easton Corbin and Jana Kramer. “With The Voice schedule, I was not able to go out and perform as much as I wanted last year, but I plan to make up for it this year," Shelton said. 

country music superstar Kenny Chesney will be releasing a yet to be titled album on April 30, about a month into his upcoming "No Shoes Nation" tour.

The former American Idol winner Carrie Underwood will be taking the stage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California for the Grammys award show on February 10.

Cafe 66 - Jazz Report 11/11/2012

The Top 5 Jazz Shows in NYC this month are : Huston Person which was on Friday, Jazz and Colors on the 10th, Victor Wooten Band on November 11th, Greg Lewis Organ Monk Trio on the 13th, and Kenny G on the 15th through 18th.

Tufts University in Medford Massachusetts is hosting 3 different jazz ensembles in the Grandoff Music Center. The first is called Express Yourself, which highlights both Aretha Franklin and The Great American Songbook performed by Joel LaRue Smith’s jazz ensemble and the Tufts Jazz Choir on November 11. On November 15th features three of Nando Michelin’s ensembles in Distler Performance Hall. Scott Aruda and Paul Alstrand’s jazz ensembles on November 18 highlights funk, rock, Latin, and swing as well as jazz.

On Wednesday, November 28, nine jazz musicians including cornetist Randy Reinhart, trumpeter Bria Skonberg and trombonist Jim Fryer wil be performing at the Bickford Jazz Showcase in New Jersey from 8 to 9:30 pm to benefit this beloved venue which is hurting from a decline in state funding so if your in the area you should definitely check that out.
